some Prasinus details with pics...

robyn@ProExotics Jan 07, 2004 06:04 PM

man, i wrote a nice long, detailed, wordy post about the Prasinus setup and breeding, and slipped when i hit "submit" and instead hit "reset" and lost it all. and i just don't feel like doing it again, so a quick summary

we have 1.2 Prasinus setup in two cages, male moves around...

the cages are 4 ft troughs, filled to the top with our DG soil, with an addtional 4 ft of height built in with wood and glass.

there is a center piece of large grapevine, which is like a big hollow log, and more grapevine, cork sandwiches, and fake greenery providing various shades and hides.

the female goes down into the hollow trunk and lays the eggs in the soil there. to get to them we have to dig from the outside of the trunk, up under the base, and the eggs eventually plop into your hand

you can see more pics on the construction of these particular cages in the photo galleries at our site, and they are a good, if not visually fancy, example of how to use the great base of a trough and make a front loading, viewer friendly cage out of it.

Thanks for showing us that, Robyn!

Don't you hate that when you've typed a long post and had it disappear.
