I recently adopted two RES hatchlings and received them today. Although they were sent during the cold, the "adoption agency" didn't place any heating packs in the package while they were shipped and due to the cold weather they arrived to me in very poor condition. I was able to revive them with a heating/basking lamp and warm water, but the babies are still very lethargic. I have reared other RES hatchlings, and compared to my other turtles, the hatchlings' behavior isn't like anything I have seen. I have them in a 10 gallon aquarium with both basking and swimming areas. When in the water, the turtles will float motionless for long periods of time, and for an instant get a surge of energy, swim a little, and then go back to floating aimlessly in the aquarium. I don't know if they are snapping out of hybernation due to the cold or if there is something else that is wrong with the babies. If anybody has any suggestions as to how to help them, please let me know. Thank you so much.
