Exotics Laws in Vermont?

Lucien Jan 08, 2004 12:44 AM

I can't seem to find the laws regarding exotics within the state of Vermont... I've contacted local wildlife offices etc and gotten no concrete response so I need a bit of help with whats allowed and whats not... what the laws are regarding the ownership of exotics... snakes, monitor lizards, geckos.. etc. If anyone has any knowledge or can point me to the proper links or offices to contact.. it would be much appreciated.

Lucien, some time ago I contacted you repeatedly by E-mail asking for you to participate in the Vermont Herpetological Society Online. You never responded. Now oddly enough you have some interest in which way the regulations are going.
Well, we , the VHSO and some of the pet stores have been working with the VT F&W with our input about the regs, The VHSO has kept in mind herp welfare, herp education and herp law in our input and hoped to protect the integrity of the hobby as well.. The pet stores defended what they can turn some coin on. The Vt F&W is looking at at public safety and habitat conservation as their main guidelines. So there has been much compromise from all parties and I will say that the VT F&W have put allot of thought and effort into the regulation that they are soon to publish.
I would go into detail with you on this subject but actually I think you would have been better equiped to help control the Vermont hobby months ago by participating when you were asked. Now you can read it when it is published as far as I am concerned. Feel free to sweat it out until then. Take care & have a nice day.
Sincerely,
Craig Sweeney

I apologise but have no idea what you're talking about. I never recieved any emails from you or anyone else regarding this subject. This October I moved from Ohio back to Vermont and changed internet access providers so I lost the email this account was attached to. I had forgotten that that email was the one in my Kingsnake.com account and just recently changed it to my new one. So, again, if I didn't respond it was through no intent to slight or ignore but only because I never recieved anything. I guess a few people had problems getting ahold of me. That is how I became aware that my Kingsnake account was directing email to the wrong address.
