HELP! Cold leos

tribbielvr Feb 09, 2003 10:01 AM

I just recieved five leos today and they are VERY COLD! I thought
they were dead but they seemed to have some movement. I am trying
to slowly warm them, it looks like four of the five are going to
make it, I don't think the smallest is.

Any suggestions on things I can do? When they arrived they were ICE
cold. I have them on a heating pad on low and a low wattage bulb over
them cause I don't want to stress them by heating TOO fast either.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Nina

Sounds like you are doing the best that you can do. Just warm slowly and pray. Maybe once they warm up some give them a lukewarm bath. Hope they are all right good luck.

All you can do is warm them up slowly...

You'd be surprized at how hardy these little guys can be, just heat them up slowly and let them relax. If you are "too helpful" it can hurt them more than help sometimes, I would just leave them alone for a while, they should pull through.

i'm assuming these were shipped to you. If so, i would e-mail or call the person you got them from to tell them that they were not packaged correctly. Also, i would try to get the money back for the one(s) that dies( if any die). But dont sound to confrontational(sp?) about it because he will more that likely become defensive and be a jerk about. Good luck and i hope your leos do well, you sound like your doing everthing you can.

Yes, they were shipped to me through the Post Office and it took
two days to get here. They actually came to deliver them around
10 this morning.

The guy who shipped them is really nice and was very helpful when
discussing shipping. I have emailed him but haven't heard from
him yet. I am sure he'll be upset about it.

I don't think I would ask for a refund as when I bought them I
purchased juveniles, he was unable to ship on time and sent older
females instead because of the delay.

This just really is sad to see, hope the four that are still alive
make it.

Don't buy from anyone who doesn't ship guaranteed overnight in the winter. No matter how nice they are.

Good luck with your new geckos,

I agree completely. In fact, my husband and I already decided that we
won't buy unless it can be shipped by UPS or Airborn Express. I really
think the Post Office gave the guy we purchased these from, the
idea we WOULD get them overnight, but so far this year we have
never gotten anything over night from the USPS, it has always taken
two days.

This is really sad, still not sure if they are going to make it.
