Gecko tail break? First Aid Help

karosenberg Jan 08, 2004 02:21 PM

One of my geckos seemes to have broken the very tip of her tail, it is broken- not dropped. It is after all the rings where geckos usually drop their tail, and it is still hanging by a tag of skin. Should I use a razorblade and cut the tag, or keep putting betadine on it until it falls off? I don't want it to get infected. Thanks!

Just keep putting on neosporin. What that usually is unshed skin that cuts off cirulation and pinches off the end of the tail, though irt will stay partially attached for awhile. Be sure to thoroughly examine your leo every week or so and promptly remove any unshed skin, especially on tip of tail and toes. Otherwise they may fall off.
