Anybody ever have a new light not start up?

wcumagic Jan 08, 2004 04:12 PM

I just got all new lights for my tank and the ZooMed lights have a little paper in there that says they MIGHT take "up to five minutes" to start the first time, and they've been flashing like they're starting for 25 minutes now. Is there anything I can do to help them? What is up, bad bulbs or something? I have switched starters with new ones, so it's not the starters, and I just took out the same type of bulb and replaced it. They just wont start. Anybody have this happen or know what is causing it?

I'm starting to see a blackening of the bulb on one end of the 48" tube that wont start. Not drastic like charcoal black, but it looks dusty on the inside. starting to get hot too (hot to touch, but not hot enough to start a fire). Anyone have an idea?

I just replaced the bulb that wouldnt start with the old 10000K and I took out for now. I guess it was a bad bulb.
