Is this a scar??

christopher Jan 08, 2004 05:54 PM

This is peaches a 2 yro 43" 8 lb male blue..

a few months ago he had some problems shedding in this area. during a soak i noticed what looked like a blister wich was water under his shed so i broke it. it seemed to go down through a few layers of good skin though. he eventually shed the whole area and healed up, but he has a hard slightly raised lump of skin where the blister was and a patch of the same around that area. I hope you can see it in these pics.. any one else seen this before. is it scar tissue? he has had shed problems here ever since.

Scars usually don't cause any kind of raised skin . They usually never color up fully either when they are severe enough to cause a problem shed alone .

The raised skin and the fact that you said he had a blister there that you popped makes think he might have a infection under there . I would have a vet check it out as it may have to be lanced to drain and given an antibiotic to clear up (please do not attempt to do this yourself ) Was he bitten by a rodent or anything else ?

no it was not a bite. i had thought it was water trapped between his shed, except that after i broke it i noticed it went a few layers into the good skin aswell. it seems healed, it feels like a hard thickening of the skin there. i don't believe it to be abcessed. He has been in perfect health other than the shed sticking to that area. im a vet asst so checking it out is not a prob. though i think ill go to a reptile specialist, they're all about mammals and such where i work. Just wanted to check the forums first.

thanks for the info. I got him from you btw......
