Toad with bloody urine

Frogger1985 Jan 08, 2004 09:13 PM

I have a toad that I believe is an African Bouncing Toad. I think he might be an older toad. I got him a few years ago and have never had any problems with him. I took him to the vet last week for a sore on his foot and got some cream(Silver Sulfadiazine) to put on it. The toad also has a small cist on his back. The vet said it would be fine. My problem is, while I was giving him his medication today, he urinated blood.
He lives in a 10 gallon with Eco-Earth coconut substrate and a large water bowl.
My question is...Has anyone ever experienced this before or does anyone know anything about this?
I know he needs to go back to the vet, but I would like to know if anyone has seen this before first. I like to get different opinions(than the one from just the vet).
I would appreciate any help.

Sorry, hasn't happened to me. Unfortunately I don't have my amphib medicine book with me to look it up. I think that if there is any one serious condition that warrants a trip to the vet, it's this one. Please post back and let us know about the results!
