.. your photo shows amarali, whether Brazilian or Bolivian it is not certain.

I do not think the term Redtail can be properly applied to the short-tailed boas.

Good luck with that.

that the term Red Tail Boa can be loosely applied to just about any BCI, BCC or BCA. It is just a term made up long before you or I to describe the red pigmentation in the tail pattern of most South American boas. And I do see red pigmentation in my Brazilians beit that they have short or long tails !! Now I agree that not all boas are described properly sometimes ( i.e. Anery Red-Tail Boas ). Allot of the documentation that I have found does infact call them North, South Brazilian Red Tails, although the correct scientific term is Boa Constrictor Amarali.

That's an interesting idea... But if any boa with red on or near the tail is then a Redtail, what about a boa from any of the known families of redtails, Suriname, Peru, even Common or Colombian redtails, that happen to be born without red? Or if they have nice red tails as babies, then at age 6 or7 the tail is only orange or brown. Are they still Redtails?

What do we call those?

Thanks for your info..

I did not come up with the name Red Tails ! But like I said the term Anerytheristic Red-Tail is kind of like an oxy-moron would'nt you say ? Oh well opinions will always vary..

Thanks,
