Heating large rubbermaid containers?

xerxes Jan 09, 2004 02:06 AM

For those using rubbermaid containers, what do you use to heat the warm side? Are heating mats warm enough to maintain the needed temperatures while not melting the plastic? Any pictures of setups would be appreciated.
Thank Darious

Lots of people use under the tank heating mats or flexi-watt tape. You could connect it to a rheostat for more accurate heat control.

Thanks for the reply. It helped to narrow down the google search.

This is a rack I built that uses plastic tubs. I heat it with 3 inch flexwatt for the small and medium tubs and 11 inch flexwatt for the large tubs.

I've been looking around and the only places I found that sold flexwatt are http://www.pohina.com/creative/shop/shop.cfm?mcatid=4&catid=8 and http://helixcontrols.com/pricelist.htm Are there any other places that has the stuff and is a reputable seller. Thanks

I bought some yesterday at the local petshop. I have no idea they had it. If I had known how user friedly it was, I would not own a UTH. It is great stuff, and only takes 3 minutes to rig and use.

I guess I will have to buy online, I checked the local stores and none of them carried flexwatt.
