Albino Gartersnake Query

teknomage Jan 09, 2004 02:34 AM

I recently purchased an Albino Checkerboard Garter from a local pet store. I was told by someone that these kinds of snakes are rare and go for a lot of money. He thought that maybe the pet store didn't really know what they had in their hands when they put him up for sale.

I don't plan on selling my snake since I've become really attached to him. But I was just curious if what this guy was telling me was true.

Thanks for the info.

I have seen them in the $40-$50 range at the All Ohio Reptile Show. They have been on the market long enough, and garters are easy enough to breed, that they are not at all uncommon. Very pretty snakes, though...no doubt. Best of luck with yours.
