I breed mice and rats in my garage. The production isn't what it should be but I spoke to a breeder who claimed that mice don't breed well in the presents of rats. Does anyone else have this experience??

They could be 'off season' or worn out or don't like the temp...but mine are inches from each other and both rats and mice are breeding like....gee, mice! I wouldn't blame it on proximity. I think I would reassess husbandry.

Failure is not an option. It comes bundled with the software.

Back when I was breeding mice for my snakes I bought some white and fancy mice from Petco and kept them in the same room as my rats, and they never would breed, so I figured it was true. I figured the mice WERE scared of rats so they would breed.

Now I know its not true. I now breed pet ONLY fancy mice that I got from PetsMart. All three of my females got pregnant when I put them all in with the male figuring they wouldn't breed anyway. These mice where of course also in the same room and actually the same modified closet and nearly 50 rats.

Therefor, I am sure its just your mice that won't breed and has nothing to do with being in the same room as rats.
