New Digital Camera - 1st pics - Colombian

MaxPeterson Jan 09, 2004 12:56 PM

Trying out my new Coolpix 2500.
I need to practice with it some, but it seems to work fairly well.
The snake is a fineline out of Steve Hammond's bloodlines.
The saddles seem to be quite hypo compared to the rest of the litter which had black saddles.
Cheers, Max

Just how close do you want it to be, to be a locale breeding?
Careful now - We wouldn't want to breed related animals.

That's great...

Question, about your post-script.. what do you mean about not wanting to breed related animals? Where do all the recessive-trait morphs come from then? I thought you HAD to breed related animals to each other to get a lot of that stuff..... ?

Nice pic.

Gus

I'm poking fun at all the people who are so opposed to breeding related animals & then, at the same time, only want to breed specific locale animals. You can't have it both ways & they are being hypocritical.
To breed locale animals means that you are breeding animals from a specific area, which in turn means that they will be very closely related genetically. That is how you get animals from a certain area which look the same.
Boa people tend to be ok with a broad locale, such as a whole country.
Some of the Grey-band & Rosy Boa people want the locale to be from the exact rock pile or mile marker. The animals will be related!
I know you already know all of this, Gus, but a lot of these people seem blind to it, & will argue against common sense.
Hope you had a great holiday season, Max

you do HAVE to breed related animals to get specific genetic traits - that goes without saying.
Why do you think that there are so many different & strange morphs popping up in captivity - every year - several more - it's , for the most part, because we are breeding related animals.
Makes me wonder about a friend & his wife who have an albino son.
Wonder how far back that recessive goes?
Or, is it, in fact, a new genetic mutation?
