I only feed f/t and the mice in these pictures don't look f/t. Are they alive? If so, is your Hognose chewing on them to kill them before he eats them? Does he wait till they are dead before eating them, or does he eat them while they are still alive? If he waits, how long does it take for the venom to kill the mice? Just curious.

i think it's a 'she'. i like to think of her as my little girl. anyway, to answer your question, the pinkies are alive. but, she will also eat f/t. she usually doesn't wait, just goes on and eats them. i've wondered the same thing, though. how much effect does their 'venom' have?

Guess we'll both have to keep wondering about it for now. She is beautiful and obviously likes her dinner! I'm feeding mine for the first time today. Fingers crossed. He's been eating fine at the pet store so I'm not too worried.

My Python is off feed for the winter. I keep trying to feed him every other week but he hasn't eaten in two months. Kinda stinks throwing $4 jumbo rats in the garbage. I'm not brumating him, he comes out every day to lay on his heat pad or bask on his logs under the heat lamp. I just put an order in for some cheaper small rats to use until he starts eating again, then I'll go back to the Jumbos.
