Keeping carpets together... Good or Bad?

Millionpoundbomb Jan 09, 2004 01:22 PM

I am very close to picking up my jungle. The cage that is coming with it is about 7ft tall, 4ft wide, and 3ft deep. It is a corner cage. Could this house two adult jungle pythons?

I know in the wild they would not be near each other, but is there much harm in doing so? I also realize it is easier to keep records on feeding and any problems if the snakes were seperate. It just seems in such a big cage my male should have a girlfriend. Ha ha... Anyway Thanks in advance.

Hello,

As with any animal pairing, it should be noted that personally differ and relationships can change suddenly. In any pairing, close observation should be excised. You definately want to make sure you don't pair two males and /or 2 individuals of great size difference-otherwise your good to go. If you do this, Make sure you separate your carpets at feeding time. These type of Pythons are aggressive feeders and in the excitement of sensing prey- one may accidently try to swallow the other. Yes, This has happened. In one case, an individual had a rat 3/4 swallowed with another snake swallowing the 1/4 end and the head of the 1st python!

Best of luck!

Sincerely,
Brian

Peter: It's OK, I'll handle it. I read a book about something like this.
Brian: Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't NOTHING?

I have kept 2 male jcp's together for more than a year with no probs whatsoever! Keep them separate during feeding and everything will be ok.
