Basking Spot

t-bo Jan 09, 2004 02:18 PM

I was wondering how your suppost to get a basking spot when using a rubbermaid type tub for housing, and using a heat mat for heating.

Or.. is it not important if you have temps of up to 88f in the hot area?

Thanks..

I don't think that BPs really 'bask'. They don't need UVA/B, etc. I believe it's just important to have a temp gradient:

warm side: 90 (95 tops)
cool side: 80-85

just a good source of heat, or belly heat of 90-95 degrees to the back should be all the heat you need. It will make its own gradient.
