nigrita x splendida integrade

Juan-G Jan 09, 2004 04:40 PM

Hey everyone. Long time reader, first time poster. Since it's January and cold and slow in our herp world now...On page 33 of the Markel - Kingsnake TFH book, there's a photo of an integrade nigrita x splendida. Now there's a snake!!! Solid black head, black spine with unpaterned gold flecks fading along the side. Not just a dark splendida but definately nigrita x splendida. Has anyone seen one of these integrades or is anyone breeding some. Any thoughts. Thanks Juan in Texas

I don't have that Markel book I guess (the one I have has lepidus and alterna on page 33), but splendida x nigrita intergrades occur quite commonly in southern AZ. Most are not very attractive snakes, but a few are.

As for TX, the closest you get is the splendida in far west TX (El Paso area). Here is a bad pic of a nice one I found in the Hueco mts.
