herping in Mexico

hi,
i am planning to take a trip to mexico,
i am going to the cancun area, can anybody tell me any good sites to give me information on the herps that live there?
also when is the best time to go?
i am planning to do alot of road cruising and flipping so when is the best season do do that.
and can anybody tell me the laws on herping there.
