Bibron care questions.

Israel68 Jun 05, 2003 08:36 AM

I know people are going to yell but...

I've had this bibron for about 4 years now, but i've never been sure of the exact care requirements for these guys. I search the web and get conflicting info. some say their dinural, some say nocturnal. Which is it's?

I've kept him/her the same way I kept my white-line geckos 80-85 degrees with 60-70% humidity.

He's seem to be doing good. But is this care right?

I just recently "adopted" a bibrons and 2 golden geckos about a week ago, and I am having the same results with all my searches. One site says it's nocturnal, the other one says it's not. The one I have seems to be nocturnal. I never see it come out of its hiding place during the day, but can tell it comes out when I am sleeping because of the pooh. Someone please help us wanna-be herpers!

Golden geckos (Gekko ulivoskii) are nocturnal. A easy way to tell if a gecko is a night gecko is to look for cat-like eyes (nocturnal). If they are not cat-like (round pupils)they are day geckos. Most geckos are night dwelling.

Find care information on the golden gecko in Sean McKeown's General Care and Maintenance of Tokays
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ISBN=1882770382/gregleannsleapinA/
Briefly: goldens are tropical, egg-stickers, cricket and fruit eating geckos.
Since they have similar care to a tokay you can look at this for now:

Sorry, bibrons are not something I know enough about to provide information, except they are Pachydactylus bibroni and nocturnal. Here is a general care sheet for them:

Sorry if sometimes responders sound rude -- I think that we like to be right and if we sound confident enough someone may believe us

Hello everyone:
Bibron's are nocturnal for the most part though they are active earlier in the evening than many other nocturnal species. This is probably the reason for the conflicting reports about their diurnal habits. I had a male once that would come out on occasion about an hour before sunset and I have heard other instances (though not common)of the same behaviour.
These geckos are savannah type geckos that live in drier areas. I have kept them best on gravely substrate with stacked rocks for them to hide in. I usually have hiding places in each corner, using driftwood as a central barrier between the two rock piles. I give them a water dish and a xeric plant or two but otherwise I keep the cage fairly dry.
I hope this helps. Good Luck and have a Great Day!!!

Other info that I found while searching the net contradicted the info you gave me. Not saying that you are wrong, but if you ask one question and get two different answers would you be satisfied, or would you continue to search for the correct answer?

Sorry to bother you!

Then I am seriously sorry. I have been in and out of these forums for the past 2 years, and no one is ever friendly. Sorry it had to be someone NOT being a smart@** for the time I decide to tell someone off.

Very sorry
Karen
