they are a little skinny, but very healthy - what is a good food source that i can feed them, once or twice a week to slightly increase their body fat? i have been using wax worms lately ... is that a good idea?

Yes, waxworms are OK for putting some weight on a cham. Just be sure to keep the diet varied, or you could end up with a cham who won't eat anything BUT waxworms. Can you get silkworms? They are great also.

If that was the first time he'd seen them I am not surprised. Chams are cautious of new foods, especially as waxworms don't move around that much to attract their attention. To get him to try them you'll have to offer them over and over, or put one in with food he knows. He may shoot at one thing and get a waxworm by mistake. Once he tastes them he may love them.
