ARG....Mites...more and a question...

JeffG Jun 05, 2003 09:09 AM

My two juvenile carpet pythons are housed in sweater boxes one shelf up from my leopard geckos. The feeders i got for the carpets apparently had mites because i have just seen a few crawling around the sweater boxes. Im afraid my leopards will get them now also. I already moved them away into another room, and i have provent-a-mite spray on the way. Anyone ever used this with geckos? Will it be ok?

used it on a beardie worked great i recommend dampining a washcloth with the stuff and then rubbing it on the gecko it works great and they seem not to get too stressed. Good luck.

I would not dare use that stuff anywhere aorund any species of geckos. We have found it to be extremely toxic after trying to treat some mites on several Uroplatus sp. Within six hours we found one dead and six with signs of posioning. We quickly filled their stomachs with activated carbon and we were able to save them. I had a friend with simalar results treating day geckos as well as flying gecko. Hope that helps.
