Some times mine will rub their faces after they have eaten to line up their jaw again. I've also read they rub their faces in order to shed or if they have a respiratory infection going on. Does he leave smears on the side of the tank? My python did this same behavior when she had some mites.
This is just my 2 cents worth...:0)
Mine do that all the time to try and find a way out. They also do it to shed. Or it is possible your snake is tyring to burrow to hide.

it could be shedding or just trying to get out of its enclosure. My snakes rub their nose on the glass all the time and is never a problem unless they start to develop a scab on their noses which usually doesnt happen with glass
