want to get a caiman, what's next?

caiman87 Jan 10, 2004 02:23 PM

I'm 16 and have wanted a caiman/crocodile for several years but my parents don't think they want one. I plan on getting one when I move out, but wanted to know what I was up against in terms of costs to build a habitat and the animal itself. I would like to get a Diamond Caiman but wasn't sure. It will be a while before a get one, but wanted to get off to good start. Thanks in advance.

I would recommend that you start by reading the Croc FAQ - http://crocodilian.com/crocfaq/
Next, find someone that has a crocodilian and try to get some hands-on experience before you jump in.

OK my research has begun. The Croc FAQ has been a huge help, but does any one know where I could buy a rubbermaid stock tank? They seem like a good thing to use for a water area. Also, if any one could give a price on those that would be great too. Thanks!
