They don't change sex do they!?

I am only half serious when I ask this.
We have a female who I saw lay eggs with my own eyes about 5 months ago. We gave her a break, but when we reintroduced her to our male, they wouldn't mate. She just sat on top of him, which I am sure made him feel less than manly
Anyway, we moved him in with our other females and placed her in the cage with one of our smaller females who also isn't interested in breeding. These two girls have been around each other almost since birth and they have always gotten along. Well last night we found the big female trying to mate with the smaller one. (At least that's what it looked like). She was grabbing the small one by the neck and...well whatever. We had to pry them apart and separate them. Her beard was all black and she was all huffy for quite a while. She turned an extremely pale white shade.

Any idea what the heck happened? Or suggestions? Have all our beardies gone asexual, gay or just insane on us??

lol...sounds like you have a case of a VERY dominant female...lol no she isnt gay, but she probably felt SOO dominant when growing up that she thinks that she is bigger then any other beardie, therefore sitting on top of the male...also when she feels that she is that dominant and there is no male in the enclosure, she feels she needs to take the place of the male and "mate" but really isnt actually breeding, just looks like it...lol
