Sticking tongue out

i've noticed in the past couple of days that my Green Iguana has been sitting around with his mouth sorta open and the tip of his tongue sticking out. I picked him up today and when he opened his mouth the tip of his tongue is really, really red. Any ideas? you can email me at incognito101081@aol.com if you want to see a pic of him. thanks
