I wanted to get a lizard but i not sure what kind.I want something that is medium sized 10-16 inches and can be housed in a 20 gallon long or a 30 gallon aquarium and be able to keep more then 1 in a cage reguardless of gender.Got any ideas?

here are a few choices but they are not usually handleable.
up to 2 desert spiny lizards
up to 2 curly tailed lizards
2 fire skinks
2 red sided skinks

I would suggest that you do some more research on lizards that can be "social" and then make your question more specific. This way, you can find which lizards fit your requirements, not only for space, but also for companionship.

You could get a pair of crested geckos. A tad smaller than what you wanted, but can't be beat for awesomeness.
