Should i be concerned???????

oggyjvh Jan 10, 2004 09:51 PM

My beardie lately has been very active one day and then sleeps all day the next day or so. He hasn't been eating very much lately, he will sometimes eat a blueberry from my hand or he will pick out a few crickets from his food dish. He has not been going to the bathroom very often, like once every 5-7 days. I have been soaking him. I replaced his full spectrum bulbs. He looks healthy. He had a fecal done about a week ago and they found nothing. I have been syringe feeding him lately with sweet potato and turkey baby food mixed with gatorade and some of his calcium and vitamin supplements because I am afraid that he might not be getting enough nutrients or that he may become dehydrated because he is not eating much on his own. I am not sure if i should be concerned because I know that sometimes beardies brumate. I noticed that he had been eating less and becoming more inactive for quite some time, but his blood work and fecals show nothing. I was just concerned that maybe there was something that could be going on and I just don't know it. Any advice would be helpful.

He may be getting older. Mine did that too. He is going on two years old and he only eats about every 2-3 days. He is less active and will sometimes just rest most of the day. Other days, he is jumping around wanting out. I bring him our for some exercise and he is a mad man, running around and exploring like he was a baby again. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Mine also Burminated this year for about 3 months! Scared me, but there was nothing I could do. I would just let him set the tone for his care if he doesn't look thin or anything AND his fecal and blood work came back ok.

I would feed him the concoction you mentioned (only I would think about replacing the Gatorade with Pedalyte...less sugar. Just a thought)

Don't fret, it sounds like your little one is just growing up. (mine started this behavior around 10-12 months old).
