Womas and Humidity. Possible problems?

rudedogsurfrat Jan 10, 2004 11:06 PM

I've decided to keep my womas in a 32qt tub for the winter just because I have the space and I didn't want to waste extra electricity on extra cages. The womas are only a few months old so the box is an appropriate size. For now.
Since it is a melamine rack and the only ventillation is the holes in the tub, I've noticed some condensation in the tub.
This worries me since woma's are an arid species. Should I be concerned?

You should drill or burn more holes. They are from and arid area and there for the condensation you mentioned may cause a problem, such as a respiratory. I have a 4 foot female that is kept in a Freedom Breeder, plenty of ventolation and a smaller male that is kept in a Boaphile tub/rack system, but there is no vapor build up in his due to lots of holes! Womas are great animals aren't they? Good luck and enjoy them!

Yes womas ARE great animals.
I have a freedom breeder and a melamine rack. I'm using the unheated freedom breeder to hibernate my snakes in the garage.
In the freedom breeder I have 2 levels of 3 medium tubs and one level of 5 small tubs. What size to you keep yours in?
