I live in Indaiana. My female leo is gravid and a whopping 94G. She looks like she is ready to pop!! No digging yet like she did last year. She has also stopped eating for the past 10 days. The questions I have are these. 1. Does the cold we are having in Indiana make a difference when she lays( air temp in cage 71 degrees U.T.H.)? She hasn't been with the male since last year. 2. Could she still retain sperm from the male even though she used at least some of it earlier this year to produce viable eggs. Any info you guys can give would be appreciated. Thanks all in advance!!

Jesse

94 grams is a big female! I have two in that range and they often stop eating a week before laying. I had one female last year that while she was gravid would only eat for a couple days after she layed, than would stop until she layed again.

As for the cold weather making a difference.. Yes I would say so, I try to keep my bottom temps up to around 90 on the warm side unless you are cooling your geckos. They need the heat to digest, if its not warm enough that might be the reason she stopped eating.

As for retaining sperm.. I have had females retain for the season but not two. Even some of my female start laying infertile eggs if I only put the male in with them at the start of the season. I put the males in with the group every other week or so during the breeding season to assure fertile eggs.

good luck with her,
