Leopard Gecko Breeding?

Insideoutsider13 Jan 11, 2004 10:31 AM

I have a male and a female in a 30 gallon tank, the substrate is reptile carpetting and I feed crickets and the occasional mealworms. But anyways, I have noticed that my female's tail is kind of scratched up on the top (nothing very severe). It wouldn't be from her rubbing it against something because the sides of her tail seem perfectly fine. To get to the point... would this be a sign of leopard gecko breeding? Like the male trying to mount her and in turn he scratches her tail? Otherwise the only other possible solution would be the crickets biting the tail, but that still would not cause scratching like this. Does anyone have any ideas?

I am not sure about the whole breeding process, so I will leave that to someone else. But just look around your cage, and be as if you were a gecko, see if there is anything "you" can scratch your tail on. If there is, remove it or fix it. Thats the first thing I would do.
