Breeding Idea 2

Geckodude54 Jan 11, 2004 11:37 AM

1. How much would a male have to weigh to mate?
2. What about a female?
3. Do I seperate them after she is gravid? How do I tell if she is gravid?
4. How old do they have to be? (my male is less than a year)
5. Can I use repti carpet as a flooring when they are mating?
6. Can I seperate the female from the male, and put her in a cage with sand after she is gravid?
7. What do I use for an incubator?
8. How long until the eggs hatch?
9. How do I tell if an egg is unfertile?
New to this stuff :P

I will tell you that you may not get much response because it sounds like you did no research before asking quetions. Search the old forums and google/yahoo. for those quetions and check the caresheets here.

People should just answer the damn questions instead of telling people what they are doing wrong or tell them to look at older info......... This is a forum and that is what it is here for...... To give info....... I will take a crack at some of your questions..... Females should weight atleast 50 grams before you try to breed them...... Males can be as small as 35 grams..... They are breedable at about 12 months depending on how well they are kept...... The substrate of choice for me is paper towels...... I also hear good things about tile...... Sand is no good...... It can kill your leo....... The best way to incubate is to buy an incubator...... You can find them a cheap as 50 bucks....... Eggs can take between 50 and 70 days to hatch...... Also you can control the amount of males and females you get by incubation tenps..... 80 to 84 degrees will get you mostly females and 86 to 90 degrees will get you mostly males...... 85 degrees will get you a 50/50....... If an egg is infertile it will not look like a fertile one..... Infertile eggs will turn yellow and shrivel up..... I hope this help you out alittle..... This is just some general info and it can get much more detailed..... Look at as many websites and care sheets as you can....

I dont know what this person is talking about but being I was the only one to respond to the post hmmm he must be talking about me. I seen that it was no replies to his aswer, so through my experience on these forums I was always told to research a little and I found that it was useful to do that. I simply told him to do what I would have had to do in order to answer the questions. And as far as old in I do believe you can only search old forums now and he can still get almost all the answers in the old forums, because they are old dont make them wrong does? because I search the old forums all the time and get my answers. So am i wrong from trying to help someone best I can without doing the research for them.

I did not do the research for anyone..... I just gave him some common knowledge that anyone keeping leos for more than a month should know off hand..... Pretty simple questions that were very simple to answer.....
