I'll be there - just as a spectator and not a vendor this time. I'm there just about every single month. You going leopard hunting?

Who has been to the show in B-ham. I'm in P'cola FL and wanted to know if it is worth the effort to travel 4-5 hours to the show.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

What and who are at the show depends greatly on luck and chance. And it depends what you're coming after. It's a very small show located at UAB (the University I attend) in downtown Birmingham. Usually aroung 20-25 vendors. It's usually a little snake-heavy. If you're coming for leopard geckos, K&N is almost always represented. But if you're looking for high end morphs, Birmingham usually isn't the place because no one seems to buy the pricey stuff, so vendors don't bother to bring it. But if you'r coming to just look at and enjoy a wide variety of reptiles, then it's a great show. Also a good place to pick up caging - there are almost always killer deals on used stuff. There's also a guy there that builds glass enclosures with screen lids, and they're quite nice. Email me for more info on any of this, and do consider coming - I think you'll find it's worth it.

I live in Memphis, TN. I have been to one expo my whole herping Life and it was horrible I drove 4 hours to Arkansas to see 7 tables of crap. I am planning on going to the Dixie show March 20 for my B-day. I am just wondering is it as good as the hype I've heard? How many Leo breeders are usually there and are there any big name breeders.

Hi,

As far as big name breeders, K&N is the only one there regularly. By March I should have enough to get a table, and I do breed a lot of Leopard Geckos. I should have carrot tails and dark melanistics by then, at the very least. There are always leos at the shows though, and oftentimes they are very nice even if not from "big name breeders". But you also find a lot of overpriced normals. I think you'll be more impressed with the Dixie show than you were with the other one.

Yeah the Dixie show is great. They always have leos, but if you like snakes you will find more of those there than anything. And yes I am Leo hunting and cage hunting this time. The used stuff is always great to get! LOL Free stuff is better, but i'll take what I can get. If you are going try to send me a picture so I can find you. I'll be there for about 3 hours this time. Oh yeah heres the picture of the pictus you asked for.....
