Kammerflage kreations has them availabe right now but only in a pair for somewhere around 300 dollars. For that price you should get a panther.

Why is it that almost everyone on here only likes panthers and veileds? There are plenty of incredibly beautiful montane species that no one pays any attention too. They might not be as drop dead gorgeous but they are still plenty beautiful and fun to watch, not too mention alot less agressive. I currently have 21 panthers but I also have quite a few montane chams too including deremensis, montium, fischer, and quadricornis and I have to say the montane chams are quickly becoming my favorite. All Im saying is dont put down someones preferences because they arent the same as yours and if you are talking strictly about cost a pair of panthers from the Kammers is $500 while the fischers are only $300, wc fischers are around $70 each and wc panthers go anywhere from $250-$800 each. Ok, I can get off my soapbox now, my little rant is over.

Bonnie,

I agree... we love our montanes too.
Currently, we are keeping deremensis; quadricornis; jacksonii and rudis. They have just as much charm as the panthers - in some cases, more!

Bonnie,

I totally agree as well. I personally think some of the Montane species are so much better in many aspects. Now I love all Chams but I prefer the Montane species as I like keeping cooler temperatures and the humidity here in Florida tends to be better for Montane species.

Also the Montium is looking awesome.

I honestly do not think any chameleon is "better" than the other but what I do perceive is that the more expensive the chameleon the more hype around it.
When you look at a Panther chameleon you see a very colorful, personable and active animal yet there is no major structural ornamentation. They are a rather "basic shape" chameleon but they cost you $200 and up.
Now look at a Montium or a Deremensis. Talk about impressive! Horns, sailfins, beautiful shades of colors and patterns and also personable in their own way. However their price can be as low as $75 each if not lower.
If someone has the money to spend $300 in a chameleon, you can be almost certain that the person will try to take better care for that chameleon because it cost that much. Therefore, the more the person interacts with the chameleon, the more they fall in love with it and the more popularity it gains.
A "cheap" chameleon becomes an expendable one and if it dies, the owner simply goes out to replace it. This doesn't leave any room for an effort in taking proper care of the animal, establishing it and the ensuing bond that happens.

I can't say for certain but seems like if every chameleon would command at least a $100 price tag their care in captivity might be better by the general hobbyist and thus all species would be "the one to have".

Just my opinion though.

Maybe some people feel some chams are "worth" more than others, but why? Some people only go for what everyone else has. Granted, panthers and veileds are more solidly established in the hobby, but if you really prefer another less common species that's perfectly fine. I love the fischeri even though they are a bit more of a challenge in terms of temps and humidity and can by shyer than the others. Some species may suit some keepers' climate and house setup better than others. As long as they do the extra research and pay close attention to problems who cares what the cham costs them?

The Kammers occasionally have some, I believe the next ones will be ready in a couple of months. I got one of their captive bred fischer males at the october irba show. If you look around some Im sure you can find more people that captive breed them too.
