mating question

defector Jan 11, 2004 05:55 PM

My diego panthers just got done mating for a couple days, it was the first time for the female... the last 2 days or so since putting her back by herself in her cage though, she has been showing big black blotches of coloring all over her... is this ok?

If you could provide a photo, it would be easier to determine. However, in many cases, the male pinches the skin of the female while grasping her - thus causing bruising. Any trauma to the chameleon's skin usually goes black. This bruising will fade with time if there are no cuts from toenails. If the male scratched her, you should apply a triple antibiotic ointment or SSD cream.

Hope this helps,
