I see it said alot that 55gal is the minimium. I would much rather have mine in something bigger than that though.
I've seen it said here more than once that 12 inches is not wide enough for an adult beardie to turn around comfortably, since most grow to be over 18 inches long. You might want to go with something a little wider.

a 40 gallon breeder would house an adult bearded dragon for life. A 55 gallon is plenty long, but as stated it is skinny. They make 55 gallon wides and its more then adequate.
Anyone who says a 40gallon breeder isnt enough, is just being over protective of their dragon.
Ill prolly get yelled at for that but its the truth.
