How to tell a BP's age?

linda102565 Jan 11, 2004 07:00 PM

Is there any way possible to tell a BP's true age???
He is right now 45.5" long and not sure of the weight, but he is very healthy and has an awesome appetite...
Thanks in advance...

Nope! Not after 1-2 years.

there really is no way to tell unless you got the hatch date from a breeder.

Even before 1-2 years. You don't know what people are feeding them and could have been power feed and a 2yr old bp may be 4ft!

My 3 (going on 4 year old I think) year old male bp is about 4ft give or take a few inches.

oh one more thing, if that is it's water bowl you might want to get something more like a dog bowl. And something big enough for it to be able to soak in. I think the largest plastic bowl will work that is what I have in my big bp's enclosure.

snakes do not need to soak. this is not instinct to hide in water where alligators can eat them. proper husbandry is a must. if your snake always goes in the dish: humidity is low, temp is too high, not enough hide spots.
