new beardie!

well i guess this is what happened,my brother inlaw operates a big breeding facility,i guess not to long ago someone dropped off this dragon cause they no longer could care for it,from what i was told when he came he was vey thin and from the pic here you can see 2 of his toes are missing and a nail on his 3rd toe.
his tail is also stubbed but not at the base of it,he still probly has 75% of it remaining.

1st night home took down 20 superworms.
2nd night home(today) 50 crickets

so he is eating great, friendly and loves his basking spot.

i have a UVA bulb on him with a UVB fixure but am unsure of what it is as it was giving to me with him so he atleast had something untill next week where we are getting a UVB 8.0.
i think it may be either the desert 7.0 or 2.0 but it doesnt matter as its tossed as of next week.

he is in a 40 breeder just at the moment on paper towels.

also should i just get the 8.0 UVB or a mercury vapor bulb as they are not too much more money?

firt off, congrats on rescueing the little guy.
20 supers is a lot for a Beardie that size. you have to be carefull of impaction. It can be and often is fatal.

MVB lights do provide more useable UVB light. They also provide HEAT. Be aware of this and the size of the enclosure. Don't cook your little guy.
An MVB light also only gives UV light in a very small area (basking area). Many people who use MVB also use a florecent tube. The most reliable is the reptisun 5.0
