Cornsnake feeding documentary...buncha pics!

Mettle Jan 12, 2004 01:02 AM

So I decided to document the feeding of my corn snake tonight. He was quite the willing model I must say. On the plate for tonight were two adult mice.

They were this size...

He was a very willing biter and went right to work on the first one. In fact, he bit so hard, he severed the mouse's tail!

Needless to say, he choked down that first, tailess mouse without any problems...

But wait... One just wasn't enough, was it? He had to have a second! I was happy to oblige.

Mmm mmm... Slurp it down just like pasta that mama used to make!

And at the end of it all, a big YAWN...

And that was feeding time...

That was cute! The "yawn" at the end was probably the snake re-hinging his jaw. ~Kristine

Looks like your guy is as bothered by outside goings on as my snow when eating. Looks like he down those mice with no troubles either Have you tried rat pups yet? Talk about feeding response!

I love the after meal "yawns" sometimes looks like their saying "see, I ate it all" lol

Nope, haven't done rat pups. I've heard they're fattier though.

I don't really need a stronger feeding response than I already get with this guy. I open the lid of the 10 g I feed him in, dangle the mouse in by the tail... and WHACK!!! I think the mouse tail snapping off in those pics was evidence, lol.

heey nice corn what kind is it? i saw a baby one at the store that looked similar, but really really small and was with a few baby snows im not sure what they had it marked as, very nice tho he/she is a big eater eh? heh

It's an amel, aka albino. I know that for sure. I also have a suspicion that it might be an albino okeetee, which would be cool. But I've never had it id'ed as such.

And yes, he's a great eater. I fed him two adult mice and he was looking around for more, lol... He gets two adult mice every second Sunday. So by the time feeding day rolls around he is one hungry little boy.
