water dragon question

herplvr2004 Jan 12, 2004 03:57 AM

as i have said in previous posts my CWDs are nose rubbing. I put lots of plants and other things on the floor and walls of their tank so they cant see their reflection. Now they dont have much ground space other than in their water dish. They have lots of space in their canopy i made but the ground has hardly any. Is this ok/recommended or what else can i do to prevent the nose rubbing
thanks in advance

they should be fine...we only covered up the walls well on this tank but in the other tank housing the females...temporarily...the have no floor space either...they have a ladder to climb up the the basking spot and the mostly hide in the fake plants.

I think that they like to be hidden, keeps them less stressed.

I did that and they still rubbed you actually have to put it on the inside to make them stop seeing there reflection.

We put it on the outside...but they can still see their reflections from the out side...we use the paper more as a security device...they can't see us, we can't see them...the basilisk feels safe.

The plants and hides in the tank are also to keep them from feeling threatened but also distract them from rubbing.

Basically you just want to keep them feeling safe and they won't have a desire to run away to safety.
