transitioning to rats

uiucguy88 Jun 05, 2003 01:10 PM

I've got a jcp (according to the pet store. Thanks for the newfound cynicism :0) I bought in january '03 that is up to about 32 inches now. I've been feeding her fuzzy mice and haven't been able to get up to adult mice. Anyway, I wanted to know if I should try to start feeding her rats as soon as possible. I hear they are better for the snake. If I should get her started on rats, what size would be best for a snake that can handle good-sized fuzzies (if that makes any sense)? Thanks for any help. Also, thanks for the insight on breeding lately. It'll come in handy if I move out of mom's house and start breeding for my own!

Try a rat pup first. They are usually about the same size as a small/medium mouse. If its a little big don't worry. Carpets can put down fairly large meals comparitively(a little more than twice the width of their thickest point). You little guy will adapt!
