Difference

Hi all,

I am looking for easy to see differences (other than pholidosis and number of preanal pores) which allow easy discrimination between Gekko grossmanni and Gekko petricolus females and Juvies.

I know that most petricolus females do not show the dark markings which are typical for G. grossmanni-but definitely some do.
Also petricolus babies clearly show dark markings.
I know that theres a tendenca for all markings to be more round and small in petricolus and more angular in grossmanni. But I have seen petricolus females, which looked very similar to grossmanni.

What about Iris colour? Aslways brighter in any grossmanni?

Is the subcaudal dark stripe of grossmanni present in petricolus?

Any help is appreciated

P.S.: And who dares to give reliable markers to discriminate smaller speciemens of the large variant of G. grossmanni from those of the small variant?
