I know this probably seems like a silly question, but what does "hypo" mean?

Hypo is usually short for hypomelanism, which means that an animal has reduced black coloration. Animals can also be hypo for red or yellow. The word root 'hypo' itself means 'less' or 'under'... like hypothermia.

"The serpent crams itself with animal life that is often warm and vibrant, to prolong an existence in which we detect no joy and no emotion. It reveals the depth to which evolution can sink when it takes the downward path and strips animals to the irreducible minimum able to perpetuate a predatory life in its naked horror."

thanks, I recently got a pair of albino snakes, which at first the lady couldn't remember what they were. Later she remebered they were Bull snakes & where she got them from said something about them being "hypo". She said they stressed the hypo like it was important. It made me curious.

Aren't they beautiful! They need to be fattened up, they hadn't been fed for awhile before I got them.

If you go and look under Caresheets/FAQs/Features, there's a Glossary that explains words like Hypo and a whole bunch of others...
