i'd just like to thank all of you for your help with my jax...he wouldn't eat from a container if i hung it or placed in on the floor of the cage...the trick was lobster roaches and holding the dish...he's now taking king meal worms and lobster roaches from the dish...thanks for all your ideas

They are funny guys sometimes. You may be able to shift him to eating out of a container you are not holding by gradually moving it to a spot and letting go of it while he's eating. I think once he's recognized where the food is he'll start going to the container by himself. It may take a while...these little ones are not known for their thinking skills.

ahhh..just as well that i hold it...i have this thing about roaches getting out of the dish and breeding in my house..my wife has a REALLY BIG thing about it, lol

just be careful. i did this when i started cup feeding orion... i found her later that day IN the cup, looking up at me. lol "there's no food mommy, now what?" i put a branch in the cup that went up high enough she could reach the rim but low enough the crix couldn't climb out.
