I guess it is possible, but in my opinion not likely. From my experience when I find hogs, they tend to be crepuscular (dawn and dusk) where light would not be at its full strength, and thus they would not receive the full benifit of UV rays. I most commonly find them in areas of low light density (forests with a thick upper layer and a heavily covered floor) and my captives stay buried a fair amount of time. Andy

If you really have the money to blow, he might want to consider getting some ultraviolet bulbs. Hognoses are certainly more diurnal man other snakes, and may benefit from a full-spectrum bulb, which are known to elicit more natural behaviors in captive reptiles and amphibians. Especially when it comes to hognoses, which may go off feed spontaneously at any time of the year, who knows if keeping hognoses under natural-like light may keep them feeding on a more regular basis.
