butterworm question

just got an order of butterworms and silkworms from herpfood.com...can someone tell me or direct me to a website that will show me how to keep and breed butterwoms?

I couldn't find any website info when I ordered some. I just left them in the container they came in, room temp, and feed them some cricket cubes. They lasted a few months. Very few died (I think about 3).

they only eat a particular plant in chile, the Trevo plant, I think, hence their other common name, trevo worms. I'm pretty sure they require the trevo for breeding.

Yes they need that plant for breeding but I give mine carrot pieces and they munch on that for moisture. It will keep them alive longer. You can also put them in the fridge and they will live longer, warm temperatures kill them. They eat/bore into wood and can cause damage so don't let them loose. Also the moth takes several years to go from caterpillar to coccoon to egg laying moth so it would be a long wait. They are harvested from the plant in the wild. They eat the wood like termites.

here are a couple sites with care info. It seems they can be in the fridge for an extended period with minimal loss. I think they are pretty rich and should only be fed as a treat, not a staple
