Anole struggling

sobedragonfire Jan 12, 2004 05:55 PM

I have 1 adult male green anole inside a well decorated 15 gallon tank. A couple of days ago he started to rub his nose furiously against the glass wall. Since then he is always doing this as if he were trying to get out all the time. I checked the tank for humidity, temperature and they are normal. He is also eating normal and doesn't look stressed because he is green for most of the time. What can I do to stop him from rubbing his nose against the glass wall?

This is a common behavior of anoles. Your anole is rubbing his nose against the glass in a vain effort to escape. My anole did this for a period of time and I was confused by this enigmatic problem. I put up pieces of green construction paper to cover all the sides of the glass except the front. Then, where he would "rub his nose" on the glass, I put a thick piece of green construction paper. My anole tried to look over this piece, so you will need to make the piece of paper quite wide. Hope it helps.
