heating

I now that heat pads don't work because crested geckos are arboreal, but if you have a screen top, could you put the heat pad on top of it?

I've been using a regular light bulb in a reflector - just set it on top of the screen. Right now - a 40 watt bulb in my basement herp room, makes the top branches in the upper middle 70's. It took a little wattage adjustment to get the right temp - but it's working well now. I just shut it off at night.

They seem to be doing great - their colors are vivid, they are active, eating.

Hope this helps.

You really dont' need a heat source at all for crested geckos, unless your house drops below 69 F on a regular basis. Cresteds are quite happy in temps between 70F-80F, with 75F being a happy steady temp.

I agree. But my house is usually 70 degrees in the winter - so I wanted to get it closer to the mid/upper 70's. I wanted to see if it made a difference in their breeding, eating, activity, etc.

Thank you. I don't plan on doing this, just wondering if it would work.
