just put my male in with the rest of them...first results

so i bought a male at the beginning of november at a reptile show, and i just put him in with my other three leos who are a little smaller. immediately, the male went up to the biggest of my three (named Oy) who i think is a female, and wiggled his tale a bunch. he then did it to one of my other ones, and the other one ran away (and then came back and it didn't seem like there was a problem). so here's the deal, my male started licking Oy all over, and then he bit "her" tail! i wasn't sure if this was breeding behavior, or if it was hostility b/w two males, cuz i'm not a 0 sure that Oy is a female. well, i got scared and pulled him off (cuz i didn't want him to bite off "her" tail), and when i put him back down, he started licking his hemipenal bulges or whatever, and i noticed that it was open and was red. is this some kind of breeding thing? any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Yup. Sounds like you interrupted some mating. I bet your male really appreciates it! Lol! . My male held onto my female's tail and followed her around and mated with her at least 3-5 times. As I wasn't really paying attention, and didn't want to interrupt.

Lmao. Just take him out of the tank. Wait a few hours (or even until tomorrow night) and then put him back in there. Or, leave him in there over night if "Seeing" them isn't all that important to you, and he should mate with all of the females in there. But you should MAKE SURE that all of them are females and DO NOT put him in with other males. Also, make sure that they are all breeding size (For me, at least 50 grams) and make sure that there isn't a considerable size difference between them.

That means that she doesn't want to mate. Best bet would be just to take him out and reintoduce him in a few days. Maybe she'd be more receptive later. How many Leo's do you have in the same tank? All females? Weight?

first off.. before introducing leo's they should be the same size.. second off i would probably remove your male until you are able to sex all the leo's in your tank because male's can't be placed together without fighting, the less aggresive of the two males may end up rather hurt.
