After experimenting a lot with various UVB sources and supplementation schemes for diurnal lizards in the 80s and for a second time in the 90s with all those new UVB sources, I decided to prefer high ligth intenity over special UVB spectra sinc I had to suplement Vitmaien D anyhow.
To my experience you can fully supplement for UVB by dietary Vitamine D-but I have no idea how to supplement for light intensities.
For my Uros that means that they have access to bright lights (e.g 150 W metal Halide HQI NDL or D)-which do have a limited UVB outpüut, but no special UVB source.
All animals have constant access to bird grit and the Uromastyx receive two doses of approx 20 IU 1,25 Dihydroxyvitamine D (but you can choose cholecalciferol as well) per kg animal each week.
I have good experiences with this regime, which meansd that I do breed some diurnal species since 20 years or for several generations without access to special UVB or natural sunlight.
I only do have one pair of Uros in my collection plus their babies form the respective year. It works for them as well as for the other species.

Hope that helps

I have never used any uvb lighting for my lizards for the past 14 years of keeping and breeding them. You can look on the forum for Robyns pics, he does not use uvb lighting. He supps. with miner-all I I believe. I supp. with t-rex sandfire superfoods Uromastyx formula. Both products contain d3 and are very effective. I don't know what you think a picture will tell you, but I will try to snap one for you after work today.

The U. acanthinura nigriventris on the picture is one of the specimen that was born in our zoo{ Reptilezoo Iguana Vlissingen }. There are a number of specimen born there in the last 20 years. I do not know how many exactly.
We never use UV-lights.
Food is supplemented with Vit D3. and ofcourse calcium is always available for the animals.

In this way we, amongst others, also bred hundreds of Iguana iguana (F5 and a F6 egg in the incubator).
