Snake mites

pal Jan 12, 2004 10:47 PM

My collared lizards live in a room with my snakes. I have just discovered that one of my snakes has mites. I plan on treating with Black Knight. Will this be safe for the lizards if sprayed only on the snakes or should I remove them from the room?

Howdy!

I was under the impression all animals were to be removed from the area until it has been applied and dried. I could be wrong but I thought black knight was not for use directly on the animal? Then again maybe I read your post wrong and you were going to remove the snake as well? I would remove the collareds, snake and any other living type critters personally, that stuff is pretty strong

This was taken with permission from proexotics site, just about black knight treatment.

http://www.proexotics.com/FAQ_answers_get_rid_of_mites.html

But here it does say to remove frogs geckos and feeders bugs they will die. Read below
**************************************************
In order to eradicate this tenacious parasite completely, you need to address the live mite, as well as the eggs waiting to hatch. Only one product does this effectively and safely, and that is Black Knight.
It is an aerosol that fogs the entire cage (and rack, and floor, and room) killing live mites, as well as desiccating those invisible eggs.

(PLEASE NOTE: Black Knight kills bugs. PERIOD! That means it will kill your feeder crickets, your feeder roaches, and your precious Tarantula collection.
****** It is also not for use with frogs or other chemically sensitive pets (geckos have been known to react negatively to No-Pest Strips). Be sure to move these animals well away from any possible exposure while you are treating your snakes and lizards for mites.) *****

Good luck, let us know how it went,

Eve
